Developing your Photographic Eye will take time, but it is your most important asset to great photography. Looking at other photographers photos in magazines and websites is a good way to start. Compare your photos to the professionals and determine what you can do to improve your photographs, taking note of the elements they used to compose the photo. Most of the beautiful photos you see are carefully planned. Very rarely will you get a right time, right place shot.
Knowing what to look for in a photo is the most important aspect of developing your photographic eye. Following a few guidelines will help you to take awesome nature and landscape photos.
1. A good photograph has a theme. It may tell a story, communicate an idea, or express an emotion. It should be more that just a photo, it should appeal to people everywhere.
2. A good photograph focuses attention on the most important elements of the theme. It is called emphasis.
3. A good photograph simplifies. It includes only those elements that are important to the theme and excludes everything that distracts from the theme.

In the photo on the right, what is the theme? Attention is focused on the subject by making it the largest in the photo and blurring the background. The photo is simplified by only including what is necessary. There are no trees in the skyline, no electrical lines, no buildings, just what is relevant to the theme.
There are many sources that can provide more in-depth information on developing your photographic eye. It also helps to know the functions and features of your camera. Even if your camera is totally automatic you can control the elements within your photo to make it better.
Part of a good photographer is seeing the photo before deciding to shoot it. Just really look before you take that shot. Compose your shot excluding those things that distract from the photo’s theme or subject and include those that make it better. Now go shoot more photos of nature and landscapes training and developing your photographic eye.
